I bumped with this article from the First Post a week after I kept mouthing iPhone. Then, it silenced me regarding this hype.
Here are things I should consider before buying the iPhone:
1. The “battery” life.
“WiFi is a notorious energy drain. A dry iPod is annoying, but a phone drained of juice by web surfing could be disastrous. With a mere five hours of talk/surf/video time (Apple’s figures), a user-changeable battery might have been comforting.”
2. My friend’s PDA has already scratches and spots on its screen. What would be the iPhone’s resistance on this?
“Will that touch screen work when it’s scratched? When it’s smeared with make-up or cheek-grease?”
3. That’s why I hate my N91. 2 megapixels and no flash! Err!
“A 2MP camera doesn’t sound like the future (3MP is already common). And there was no mention of a flash.”
4. Oh well, Philippine mobile networks do not cooperate with existing mobile phones of other brands as well.
“An unlocked iPhone is the dream, but some of the device’s key features (visual voice-messaging, for instance) rely on network cooperation. US users will be tied to the none-too-popular Cingular. Nor will we be able to choose our network”
5. I think there’ll be no memory card slot or the like. N91 is like that. Err!
“Eight gigabytes aren’t a lot, particularly when factoring in video. The official specification doesn’t mention an expansion slot for removable media.”
6. If only I can search for those softwares… I can’t find a free site that offers free software for my N91.
“The latest rumours suggest that users won’t be able to load third party software. Where’s the support for Microsoft attachments?”
