I decided to go the nearest internet shop because it would be a disaster on my site to upload the updated stylesheet and site banner of the theme now I called Illacrimo-Orasid theme. GPRS speed of my Globe Visibility will make this site unpresentable for a long period of time because I’m shrinking the width of the container back to its original size after recognizing that some monitors of the PC’s that access my site is mostly at 1048 pixels maximum. I think those entries with more than 1048 pixels are logged from my laptop and my officemate’s laptop.

One thing though that really bothers me – my USB could house computer viruses. I’m quite lucky on the last shop other than this one because I was not infected plus the top speed is really a speed compared to this one. But this shop, OMG! The friendly warning of the shop caretaker is actually a given death threat when she asked to be notified if the PC will ask to reboot after I plug my thumb drive in. OMG again! I’m gonna die! (Copyright by Mariel Rodriguez). Krag.exe trespassed my months-old USB.

While I’m uploading my new files and pulling pictures to be resized on the side, I’m Googling tricks on how to get rid of the virus. Threads after threads came and commenters were never satisfied with the results. O-oh! You can’t cancel the process with Task Manager because it was already deactivated by the virus. What’s more frustrating is that Regedit is also deactivated which could be prevent autorun.inf and krag.exe to replicate themselves. I accepted the fact that I will format my USB’s memory. But the problem is that it cannot be formatted or ejected safely. What a pest! AVG on the desktop had detected it but failed to clean the mess. I’m really trusting Symantec of my laptop that time.

The suggested solutions are the following:

  • Log on in a safe mode and firefight!
  • Mount the disk on a Mac, then kill the files!
  • Press Shift to bypass autorun when USB is plugged in, then kill the files!
  • Download a suggested virus cleaner software.

Number 3 won’t work if krag.exe already registered some entries on the registries. So my last hope is number 1 when I use the USB with my own laptop.

And this is when the battle between Orasid and Krag began. I don’t know how to reboot in safe mode. I’m fool! I keyed in F1 to F12 but to no avail. So the only hope now is the corporate edition of Krag. Sigh! I don’t want to throw my USB for that virus! So I connect my USB after holding the shift key to bypass automatic play. Then I explore the newly mounted disk and to my surprise, krag.exe is not there. My folder options show the hidden files and the extensions so I would know if Krag is just hidding. I also check it to the command prompt. When I have already moved my downloaded files, I don’t waste time to format my USB. Voila and I defended my laptop against Krag. I double check it and I really won the battle.

Now, I’m saving for my iMac.
