  • Nazty Ambigram: Czarina

On my previous world, we called it ‘AA’ as an ‘administrative assistant’. Here, we have an AA too. But this time, she’s super AA – Super All-Around. That’s our Ms. Czarina.

  • Meet My New Classmates

It’s first day high! Pasukan na naman! I was able to feel the morning rush with the students as they flock to the University Belt. On Thursday, I’m going to attend my first class. It starts 6 pm that I need to rush from work. I’m excited than negative about it.

Actually, my post is about this notebook that I bought yesterday at SM Sta. Mesa. Theory of Computation and Advanced Operating Systems introduce and re-present bunches computer science terms. So better get ready. Furthermore, I need to list my daily food intake as instructed. I recently enrolled to a gym and my goal is to gain weight and muscle.

The notebook cover is titled ‘No I.D. No Entry.’ by Stradmore. It is a collage of ID cards of fictional student names enrolled to fictional Philippine universities. Here are my new classmates:

    • From Philippine School of Bulakbol and Awting, Sam Ting Wong
    • Hugo First of Far Employment University
    • Isaiah Prayer of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Makalangit
    • From Deftone School of Music, James Band
    • Luis Buiton of Arneo De Manila University
    • Hugh Mungus, a BS Nutrition student
    • Hope Leslie Ynlav
    • Mercedez Benzon

    It’s Cool School!

I think everything was conceptualized by Carlo Andro Mabugay of University of Philippines – the only close-to-reality identity in the collage of colleges.

  • I forgot to bookmark what Jango had showed me before. It’s his friend’s Multiply album showcasing both funny shop names and misspelled signs captured on a camera. What I remembered is this particular beauty parlor. So I Google-d it as hard as I could but I can’t find that page. Luckily, this blog popped out and enumerated more.

Here are the top 10 most creative brand names of shops and restaurants in the Philippines according to my taste. Let’s shop and laugh until we drop.

    • 10. Res | Toe | Run – where you can choose a line of popular international brand names of shoes. They’re not edible though.
    • 09. There are two competing lugawans (or restaurants that specializes on rice porridge) located at Plaridel, Bulacan. Both of them have initials L.A. The restaurants are called Lugawan ni Abel and Lugawan ni Adan. According to the rural legends, the son came first before his dad. And that son tastes better than his dad. Wehehe. I never tried Lugawan ni Adan so I can’t compare the two. See #03 for similar themed brand names.
    • 08. Jaribi – Teriyaki Boy meets Jollibee. Pinoy fastfood with a taste of Japan.
    • 07. Summa Cun Laundry – A very intelligent idea. It’s a laundry shop located at UST area.
    • 06. and 05. I don’t know if this pair is another competing brands. Do they exist in the first place? Overload yourself with caffeine and order Venti-sized drinks at Cafe Fizzle and Cafe Findot. I’ll take a franchise of Cafe Fizzle if it really exists. Enjoy it while it’s hot!
    • 04. Petness First, which is a spin-off from the popular gym called Fitness First, may not be the first in the list but it’s the cutest. I’ve seen this one on ABS-CBN’s comedy show That’s My Doc wherein Bayani Agbayani with his gorilla pet partner owning the petness club.
    • 03. Lutong Bahay, a carinderia bukas sa mga Iskolar ng UP Diliman na gustong kumain, doesn’t make it to my list. However, it’s rival, Lutong Kapitbahay holds on to my list. ‘Yun bang hindi na nga pinag-isipan yung Lutong Bahay however the copycat pushes it well. Some time at my freshie years, my blockmates only had two choices, LB or LKB. LB serves delicious food than Kapitbahay’s but the latter’s airconditioned house makes the lunch delectable.
    • 02. Coatable Coats – I saw it on Ratified.org. The blog is not selling coats but if someone would only buy the name, the business will be a blast! Coat me on that!
    • 01. Cut ‘n Face – The one with the last recall! It’s the thing that I searched in Google and ended up with Lou’s list. Control+C and Control+V can never be this fun and funny. Swak talaga sa mga parlorista who offer hair and facial care services.

    Panalo!

    Updates:
I spotted these new brand names just recently -

    • Fae Fone – a booth for cellphone accessories
    • Inn Ka Here – for short time residence needs
    • Le-Sil Montessori School – san ka pa? Sounds like La Salle na, Montesorri pa!
    • Hurry Cutter – sensya, bumenta sa akin!
    • Pick-A-Chew – fishball-an… aliw

  • Nazty Ambigram: Alec

The second part of the “boy’s name that starts with A” series: Alec. It’s quite sketchy still. Simplicity at its best.

  • Nazty Ambigram: Adrian

To all the Adrian’s I know:

According to a site, Adrian means rich, wealthy, dark one. From a different site, it says that Adrian is of Latin origin, and its meaning is “man from Hadria”. Are all men from Hadrian rich, wealthy and dark?

  • My Ferrari

    PSP Deep Red

It’s deep. It’s shiny. It’s my PSP Slim & Lite.

My former colleague at HP sells PSP package for P10,300. I added P3,000 for the red skinned portable game console. Honestly, I forgot how much exactly she asked me on top. I was too excited to buy PSP before I left the company. I chose three-month installment which pads everything to P14,500 more or less. I got silicon, crystal and leather cases, for which the latter didn’t fit, 10 DVD’s of games, 2 of which cannot be read by my DVD-ROM, Logitech headphones, PSP charger, USB connector with charger, instruction set (in HP, we called it CBA or current best approach) for dummies and updated firmware…

… and best of all the prestige of the only bearer of the Ferrari Red PSP. And until now, I haven’t seen other PSP gamer with authentic red color. One can try G-Mask of course but I guess it would cost P3000 also.

I’m so grateful that I haven’t bought iPod Touch yet. I love music and downloading music but I also found myself a gamer. So touchscreen feature is no match to the gaming experience with PSP. I never enjoyed the games and applications installed on my brother’s 16GB Touch. Now with my PSP, I just need so much spare time to finish missions and adventures of my games.

    PSP Deep Red

My less-than-two-months-old portable has only 4GB Memory Stick. How would I manage the filesystem for a relatively low capacity drive? Initially, I don’t have videos. I’m not a fan of YouTube so I can’t think of any favorite clip. Games and music files share memory. Good games need larger chunk of memory while music files need to be updated so I transfer files often.

I couldn’t put PSP down as a game gadget in my review. I don’t care about its dimensions and weight. The widescreen matters. I’m loving HD since the first visit on Jason and Larisse’s condo unit. I never tried UMD yet and even not tested the look-and-feel of all games stored at the DVD’s. I’m playing games I’m familiar with, either I had played it on PS or I saw one playing it. NBA ’08 crashes. I don’t know if that game suffers because the space is little. I just deleted it. I wonder what will happen to God of War.

    PSP Deep Red

PSP is a simple music player. It’s like having an iPod Shuffle. There’s no playlist or automatic grouping by artist, genre or music album. PSP supports two-depth folder hierarchy. In order for me not to scroll from 1 to three-hundred and so files, in a single and top-down manner, I just classify my MP3′s per artist. PSP called it a ‘group’. I can do the same for pictures and videos.

    PSP Deep Red

I just recently discovered how PSP rocks video. With my favorite all-in-one videoconverters, watching movies and YouTube clips is so much fun in HD! I tried replaying Heroes Season 2 Episode 11 ‘Powerless’ with converted and merged FLV’s from YouKo. It’s clear. Then, I downloaded a movie file from rapidshare of the same episode (minus the subtitle in Chinese characters), converted it to HD, and presto! It’s more clear. It marks the clip per minute that you can seek and preview.

The rendering of high resolution pictures lag. It outputs the final image after some seconds. Yet, it’s still crisp. I wonder how it affects the videos. I found two videos not synching to its respective videos. I’m not sure of the culprit whether’s it’s before conversion, the file itself or the player.

I promise to take good care of my PSP. I’m scared that my PSP will got scratches out of its crystal case so I use silicon. However, it did not highlight the Ferrari redness and madness of my gadget. Patience is indeed a virtue. Patience pays.
